This is my blog, and I do my best to update it each marking term with new photos, information, and curriculum that we have covered.
This year will feature a rich and challenging program for all students in grades 3-5. As always, the Push-In program will feature lessons and units of study that are designed to support and supplement the common core curriculum across all subject areas. Students in all grades will complete projects that involve collaboration, problem-solving, and real-world learning that will both engage and challenge students in many different ways. My goal is to help students learn to think and apply their skills as well as their own creative thinking in order to solve and complete complex challenges. Students will solve and complete hands-on challenges that involved engineering, mathematics, science, technology, geography, theater/drama, architecture/design, robotics, writing, and much more. The GT/Enrichment program is based on the belief that all students can learn and excel through an engaging, challenging, and creative approach to standards-based teaching.
In addition to the Push-In program, the Pull-Out program will continue to serve students who are identified as having unique talents and abilities in the areas of mathematics and/or English/Language Arts. Lastly, I will also continue to serve additional students by offering "Lunch Bunch" groups, where students will have a chance to come to me for some fun and challenging brain games/activities during lunch/recess time. These groups will begin in October/November and students will be selected through teacher recommendation. The goal of these groups is to serve additional students, in grades 4 and 5, who have NOT qualified for the official Pull-Out program. I will also continue to work with selected grade 3 students during their scheduled RTI times.

It is with great pleasure that I am entering my 5th year as the GT/Enrichment teacher at Mapleshade. I thank the entire community for your unwavering support of this program and for the entire process of providing the best possible education for all of the children in East Longmeadow.
I am looking forward to a great year of learning together,
