Mr. A's Enrichment/GT Blog

During the year, the students will be working on many higher-level problem-solving activities. In all three grade levels, my job is to both support and push students beyond the curriculum and standards being covered in the regular classroom. Each week, I will visit each classroom, and my hope is to inspire and engage every student in a variety of challenges and activities that will help to exercise their brains.

In addition, I will be working outside the classroom with small groups of students in the subjects of Math and reading/ELA. These groups of students will be selected through a multi-step process, and my task will be to provide an environment where those students with some common academic strengths can be pushed to apply their skills in new and exciting ways.

Grade 5 Invention Convention For Seniors

Our Grade 5 Invention Convention was a huge success! The students created fantastic inventions geared towards helping senior citizens in some significant way. We had over 150 guests ranging in age from about 5-95 years old. The inventions were innovative, practical, and professionally done! All the guests enjoyed interviewing our young inventors and investing the thousands of dollars in "play" money. Everyone enjoyed mingling, sharing refreshments, and learning about the power of invention. Enjoy the pictures below! I hope that everyone has  a terrific summer, and please check back again in the Fall as we get ready to begin another great year in the world of GT/Enrichment!
