During the year, the students will be working on many higher-level problem-solving activities. In all three grade levels, my job is to both support and push students beyond the curriculum and standards being covered in the regular classroom. Each week, I will visit each classroom, and my hope is to inspire and engage every student in a variety of challenges and activities that will help to exercise their brains.
In addition, I will be working outside the classroom with small groups of students in the subjects of Math and reading/ELA. These groups of students will be selected through a multi-step process, and my task will be to provide an environment where those students with some common academic strengths can be pushed to apply their skills in new and exciting ways.
We have been very busy during our Enrichment classes over the past month. We have been working on reading, writing, engineering, and math skills. Over the next few weeks, we will turn our attention to the upcoming elections. The students will be involved in activities that help them to better understand the role of the president of the United States, voting, and what make a democracy. You may find that your son/daughter is coming home with questions regarding the elections. Please feel free to engage in conversations that allow the children to become more aware and excited about the entire process.
